LaHood in New England to Deliver $20 Million Stimulus Grant

Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood is scheduled to deliver $20 million in federal infrastructure stimulus funding Wednesday to the New England states of Maine and New Hampshire.

The states have been awarded a federal grant to help replace the aged and deteriorating Memorial Bridge that connects Kittery, Maine, and Portsmouth, N.H.

The 87-year-old bridge, where the announcement will be made, spans the Piscataqua River separating the two states. Maine and New Hampshire jointly maintain the bridges that connect them.

Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery, or TIGER, grants such as this one, are part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
