ierPass Inc. said that during the first two weeks of its OffPeak program that encourages trucks to enter and exit the port at night and on Saturday s to relieve congestion around the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.

Before the program started on July 23, PierPass set a goal of moving 15% to 20% of cargo during the new off-peak shifts, but during the first two weeks of program the shifts were handling roughly 30% of the daily cargo traffic, according to a release from the program.

The use of off-peak shipping times has led to a decline of roughly 88,000 truck trips during peak times, PierPass said.
