Jobless Claims Unchanged for Week

Initial jobless claims were unchanged last week at 311,000, the Labor Department said Thursday.

Economists had forecast a rise to 312,000 for the week, Bloomberg reported.

The less-volatile four-week moving average rose to 311,250.

The number of people continuing to collect benefits fell to 2.487 million for the previous week ended June 2, from 2.53 million a week earlier, Labor reported.
