.S. industrial production rose 0.9% in October as factories rebounded from a decline, the Federal Reserve said Thursday.

The gain followed a revised 1.5% decline in September, the Fed said.

The increase fell just short of economists’ forecasts of a 1% gain, Bloomberg reported.

Factory output, which accounts for about 90% of industrial production, rose 1.4%, the most in six years. The factory sector is one of trucking’s largest and most important customers.

The proportion of industrial capacity in use rose to 79.5% from 78.9% in September, the Fed said.
