Import Prices Rise 2.3% in September

he cost of goods imported into the United States rose 2.3% in September, the Labor Department reported Thursday.

The increase followed a 1.2% increase in August. Prices for consumer goods excluding automobiles rose 0.3%.

Import prices were expected to rise 1%, Bloomberg reported.



Prices were 9.9% higher than September 2004, Labor said.
