Import Prices Fall 0.3%, but Rise Excluding Oil

he price of goods imported into the United States fell 0.3% in October, but rose 0.8% when excluding oil prices, which fell in the month, the Labor Department said Thursday.

The overall drop followed a 2.3% increase in September.

Import prices were expected to fall by 0.2%, Bloomberg reported.



Prices were 8.1% higher than October 2004, Labor said.

Meanwhile, prices for U.S. goods exported to other countries rose 0.6%, following a 0.8% rise in September.
