n the wake of Hurricane Dennis’ landfall on the Gulf Coast Sunday afternoon, Gulf of Mexico oil platforms reopened, reporting little or no damage from the storm, news services reported.
Dennis hit the Florida panhandle but weather reports said the storm’s quick pace helped spare the region much of the damage similar to Hurricane Ivan, which hit the same region last September causing billions in damage and at least a dozen deaths. (Click here for previous coverage.)
Crude oil prices fall for a third day Monday after Dennis missed Gulf oil rigs, easing concerns about disruptions to U.S. supplies, Bloomberg reported.
The Louisiana Offshore Oil Port, the largest U.S. oil import terminal, resumed unloading cargo from tankers Monday, Bloomberg said.
Oil fell as much as $1.37 to $58.26 a barrel in overnight New York Mercantile Exchange trading, Bloomberg said.
