ruck and trailer component manufacturer The Holland Group said all of its trailer landing gears were now available with the option of a protective chemical process designed to prevent corrosion. As a result, the company said for the first time it now would offer a warranty on landing gears with that protective bond.

The Holland, Mich., company also told Transport Topics it would make that same protective bond a standard feature on its truck and trailer suspensions this fall.

The chemical bond, known as Black Armour, “chemically bonds with the metal surface” to protect it, Holland spokesman Jeff Peterson told TT. He said Holland was looking for the new feature to “maintain and increase further” what he said was its “market leader” position in landing gears.

Black Armour, developed by PRP Industries, would protect landing gears from the harmful effects of the new de-icing compounds magnesium and calcium chloride that road departments have started to rely upon to de-ice roadways, said Holland.

Holland said it would offer a warranty against corrosion for landing gears with Black Armour sold in the United States and Canada. The warranty, which would last three years from the date of original manufacture, would not apply to fasteners or surface rust, it said.

Holland said the Black Armour treatment can take the place of a matte finish coat.
