Heavy rain from the mid-Atlantic north to New England is causing flooded roads and travel disruptions, news services reported Monday.
A big rain storm was stalled over the region, dumping nearly 5 inches of rain on Boston, AccuWeather reported on its blog.
Rain and wind will continue along the Interstate 95 corridor Monday from Philadelphia to Portland, Maine, AccuWeather said.
Rivers from the Potomac around Washington through southern New Hampshire and Massachusetts were cresting over their banks.
The high water closed some highway ramps in the Boston area, the Boston Globe reported.
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) declared a state of emergency, which would allow call-up of the National Guard if needed, the Associated Press reported.
