Heartland Express’ 2Q Earnings, Revenue Rise

ruckload carrier Heartland Express Inc. said Monday its second-quarter net income rose 12.3% to $17.6 million or 24 cents a share, compared with $15.7 million or 21 cents a year earlier.

Heartland’s revenue rose 13.5% to $128.9 million, the company said in a statement.

The carrier reported an operating ratio of 80.4% and said it is continuing to replace its entire tractor fleet. Delivery of new trucks and trade-ins is scheduled to be complete by December 2006.



Heartland also said it purchased 500 new trailers in the quarter from Wabash National.

Heartland Express is ranked No. 46 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of the largest U.S. and Canadian trucking companies.
