Garmin Recalls GPS Units; Trucks Not Affected

Garmin Ltd. recently recalled 796,000 Global Positioning System navigation units in the United States, but the company’s trucker-specific GPS navigation handheld was not affected, the company said.

The company said Aug. 25 it initiated the recall because a certain battery used in the affected units could overheat.

The company’s nüvi 465T, a handheld navigation system designed for commercial truck drivers, was not included in the recall.

Garmin has directed owners of recalled units to www.garmin.com/nuvibatterypcbrecall to learn more about replacing their handhelds.
