Frozen Food Express Post Q2 Loss

Refrigerated truckload carrier Frozen Food Express Industries said it lost $661,000 or 4 cents a share in the second-quarter, compared with a net income of $2.1 million or 10 cents a share a year earlier.

Revenue declined to $113.1 million from $123.6 million, FFE said.

“Much of the temperature-controlled trucking company's loss from operations during the three months ended June 30 was from expenses that were not present in the first quarter of 2007 . . . [including about] $2.2 million from adjustments to claims reserves and $1 million associated with severance pay,” the company said in a statement.

Frozen Food Express is ranked No. 55 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
