Forward Air Says 3Q Income to Decline

Forward Air Corp., a contractor to the air cargo industry, said late Wednesday it expects to earn 35 cents 37 cents for the third quarter, down from a year ago.

The company’s third-quarter net income last year was 41 cents a share. Forward Air will report its earnings on Oct. 22.

“While making positive strides in many areas during the quarter, we could not overcome the negative effects of a sluggish economy in our airport to airport network,” Bruce Campbell, the company’s chairman and chief executive officer, said in a statement.

Forward Air is ranked No. 66 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
