ord Motor Co. is considering cutting plants and workers, the Wall Street Journal reported Friday.
The plan, still being formulated, follows just weeks after General Motors Corp. said it planned to shed 30,000 jobs and close at least nine North American plants, the Journal reported.
Sources familiar with Ford’s plans said that Ford was planning to close assembly plants in St. Louis, Atlanta and St. Paul, Minn., as well as an engine-parts plant in Windsor, Ontario, and a truck-assembly facility in Cuautitlan, Mexico, the paper reported.
Ford said Thursday that its U.S. sales fell 15% in November, and it cut its production targets for the fourth and first quarters.
