FedEx Corp. said its subsidiary less-than-truckload unit FedEx Freight will increase its published fuel surcharge by 3 percentage points.

The rate will take effect June 2 and will apply to all FedEx Freight shipments governed by its FXF 100 series rules tariff, according to the company.

The new pricing includes applicable FedEx Freight shipments within the contiguous United States; among the contiguous United States and Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Canada; and within Canada.

The company also said FedEx Ground will apply dimensional weight pricing to all shipments. Dimensional weight pricing sets the price based on package volume, which is the amount of space a package occupies in relation to its weight.

Currently, FedEx Ground applies dimensional weight pricing only to packages measuring 3 cubic feet or greater.

FedEx Corp. based in Memphis, Tennessee, ranks No. 2 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
