edEx Corp. will increase the net average shipping rate for FedEx Express by 3.5%, the company said Friday.

FedEx will raise standard list rates 5.5% and offset the increase with a 2% fuel surcharge reduction, the carrier said in a statement.

The new rates will be effective Jan. 1 and apply to U.S. domestic and U.S. export express package and freight shipments.

FedEx also said it will increase rates for its FedEx Ground unit and that it will announce the changes later this year.

FedEx is ranked No. 2 on the Transport Topics 100 list of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
