shortage of skilled drivers has spawned creative ways to attract and retain them, leading manufacturers to design truck cabs with more room, creature comforts and technology to keep truckers happy and productive on the road.

“Drivers spend most of their time behind the wheel, so the cab environment is extremely important,” said Steve Gilligan, general marketing manager for Kenworth Truck.

An extended day-cab version of Kenworth’s over-the-road T600, 800 and W900 models, introduced in 2003, has two cubic feet of storage behind the driver’s seat, an extra 2-1/2 inches behind the wheel and 6 more degrees of recline for the driver and passenger seats.



Bigger and roomier cabs are high on a rapidly growing list of amenities that drivers demand.
