Diesel Price Unchanged at $3.28

Gas Dips 1.8¢ to $2.96 a Gallon

The average national price of retail diesel fuel held at $3.28 a gallon from a week ago, the Department of Energy said Monday.

The flat reading followed last week’s 2.1-cent increase that had in turn followed three downturns in which the price fell by 11.7 cents, according to DOE figures.

Gasoline, meanwhile, fell 1.8 cents to $2.96 a gallon after dipping 0.1 cent last week, DOE said, leaving the price 71.9 cents higher than the same week last year.

The unchanged reading left diesel’s price 80.4 over the same week a year ago, DOE figures showed.

Diesel dipped 1.4 cents in DOE’s East Coast region to $3.324, while it gained 2.2 cents on the West Coast, to $3.347.

Each week, DOE surveys about 350 diesel filling stations to compile a national snapshot average price.
