Diesel declined 1.9 cents to $3.894 a gallon, following a 0.7 cent decline last week, the Department of Energy reported July 14.

Diesel’s downturn left it 2.7 cents higher than the same week a year ago, DOE reported following its weekly survey of filling stations.

Trucking’s main fuel has declined 2.6 cents in July, following an 8.3-cent rise in the last two weeks of June.

Gasoline declined 4.3 cents to $3.635 a gallon, DOE said after its weekly survey of filling stations.

Each week, DOE surveys about 400 diesel filling stations and 800 gasoline stations to compile national average prices.
