Deutsche Post's 2Q Profits Rise

Deutsche Post AG, parent of DHL Americas, said its second-quarter profit rose 13% as its DHL Express unit increased package volumes in Asia and earned more per shipment in the U.S., Bloomberg News reported.

Net income rose to 285 million euros, about $391 million or 33 cents a share, from about $346.4 million or 28.9 cents a year ago, Bloomberg said.

Sales rose to 6.5% to about $21.2 billion.

DHL Americas ranks No. 3 on the Transport Topics 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in the U.S. and Canada.
