ATLANTA — New aerodynamic wheel covers for heavy duty trucks were unveiled by Deflecktor at the North American Commercial Vehicle show.

The Minnesota-based company says the aim of the wheel covers is to boost fuel savings and improve efficiency through a simple-to-install system, said Jonathan Fleck, the firm’s owner.

He called the product a “simple, easy solution that’s inexpensive.”

“You’re going to see major fleets adopt it. We’re working with a number of them,” Fleck told Transport Topics, adding that the price point begins in the $55 range.

The durable covers float free of the wheel and feature an instant on-off turn capability for a secured and accurate installation. A durable injected polymer design comes in mirror chrome, silver color, optically clear polycarbonate, or an injected choice of color.

The product is assembled in the St. Croix River Valley of Minnesota and Wisconsin, according to background on the firm’s website.
