DAT Reports Dip in Weekly Load-Board Activity

Load-board activity as reported by DAT Trendlines showed a 1.5% dip in loads for the week of Sept. 22-28 compared with the previous week.

The spot market report from the unit of Portland, Ore.-based TransCore showed a 4.6% increase in van load-to-truck freight, while flatbed load-to-truck declined 5.5% and refrigerated load-to-truck dipped 0.9%.

DAT’s weekly rate trends showed that spot flatbed rates rose 4 cents to $2.13 per mile because of movement of lumber and metals, despite a drop in overall volume.

Spot van rates slipped 1 cent to $1.86 per mile, while load availability increased 3.7%. Reefer rates fell 3 cents to $2.15 per mile, although key Midwest and Southeast markets were trending higher, DAT said.
