Truckload carrier Dart Transit Co. raised its starting pay for longhaul company drivers along its main freight lanes by 5 cents per mile. Experienced, top-performing drivers could now earn over $60,000 in their first year with the company, Dart said.
In addition to the base pay hikes, Eagan, Minnesota-based Dart rolled out anniversary pay increases for each year the driver is with Dart, a new bonus called "Sign-on Plus" that is paid in increments from sign-on through the first year-and-a-half with Dart and a 3.5-cent-per-mile monthly performance bonus.
“We are thrilled to offer truck drivers a large increase in pay ... [that] make Dart’s pay package one of the best in the industry,” Russ Moore, Dart's vice president of safety, said in a statement.
Dart said it has been in operation since 1934 and remains a family run company.
Dart ranks No. 69 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
