Clapp Wants Industry to Be More Safety Conscious

img src="/sites/default/files/images/articles/printeditiontag_new.gif" width=120 align=right>ORLANDO, Fla. — Joseph Clapp, administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, said last week he wants the trucking industry to be more safety conscious and that his first 15 months in office have been “filled with more highs than lows” about what motor carriers have accomplished.

For example, the industry should be commended for four straight years of declining truck-related highway fatalities, the former CEO of Roadway Express said.

Clapp made his comments in opening ceremonies Oct. 27 of American Trucking Associations’ Management Conference & Exhibition, which he has often addressed in the past as an industry official.
