ogistics provider C.H. Robinson Worldwide Inc. said late Tuesday its net income for the first was $41.8 million or 48 cents per share, up from $29.1 million or 34 cents a year earlier.

Total transportation gross profit increased 33.9% to $173.8 million, the company said in a statement.

Its truck transportation gross profit rose 36.4%, driven by volume growth in truckload and less-than-truckload, C.H. Robinson said.

Intermodal gross profit dropped 6.8% on decreased volume and decreased gross profit margins.

The company said its intermodal operations “were impacted by increased costs, service lane eliminations and regional service disruptions that continue to drive business back to truck service.”

C.H. Robinson is ranked No. 14 on the Transport Topics Logistics 50 listing of the largest North American logistics companies.
