Bendix Expands Huntington, Ind., Facility

Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems will expand its manufacturing capabilities and capacity with a $3.8 million capital investment in equipment to launch two new production lines at its Huntington, Ind., facility where it has operated for nearly four decades.

The lines will manufacture a portion of the company’s vibration damper product lines and will be installed in available space at the company’s Module Center.

The new production is expected to generate nearly 170,000 dampers per year on top of current volumes, according to the Elyria, Ohio-based company.

Bendix is set to begin serial production of front gear train and bolted dampers at the facility between April and July 2018. The move is expected to add about 20 hourly jobs over three shifts and up to seven new salaried positions, according to the company.

In June, Paccar Inc. (parent of the Kenworth Trucks Co. and Peterbilt Motors Co.) named the site to its list of suppliers that meet the truck manufacturer’s rigorous quality expectation of 10 product defects or less per million parts and components.

Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems is a member of the Knorr-Bremse Group.
