Crete Tells Drivers They Can Drive 65

John Sommers II for TT

Crete Carrier Corp. will allow drivers to travel up to 65 mph on cruise control, up from the 62 mph limit previously in place.

In an announcement, the company said that technology has been able to achieve the safety and fuel economy standards that were the basis originally for the lower speed limit.

“Technology such as collision mitigation, roll stability and adaptive cruise control, have improved safety,” Crete wrote. “Continued investment in late model equipment allows Crete Carrier Corp. to stay on the leading edge of fuel-efficient equipment. In addition, utilizing software technology that helps the company plan and optimize fuel routing makes sure fuel is purchased at the best prices.”

The carrier concluded that it could make this change without compromising our Seven Principles, including safety first and foremost.

The Lincoln, Neb. company ranks No. 33 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
