Technology firm Project44 has launched an application program interface designed to help less-than-truckload carriers better manage transit-time information.
With the Transit Time API enabled, LTL carriers can revise their transit-time data on their own schedules and transmit that information directly to potential customers via Project44.
The offering expands the Chicago-based technology company’s portfolio of Web-service APIs that connect carriers with shippers and third-party logistics firms. Other APIs are designed to make it easier to manage LTL contracts, request rate quotes, automate dispatch requests, track shipments and retrieve images.
Project44 President Tommy Barnes said Transit Time API gives LTL carriers more flexibility to share updated information.
“As those carriers supply transit times that reflect live conditions, our shipper and 3PL customers will have increased visibility and confidence in the carrier selection process, reducing unexpected freight costs while enabling a more flexible supply chain,” he said.
