Dicom to Start Cross-Border Ground Package Service
Dicom Transportation Group
Dicom Transportation Group announced plans to begin cross-border ground parcel service later this year to link two Canadian provinces and 12 states.
Montreal-based Dicom is targeting a midyear starting date for the service to reach states from Maine to Virginia as well as Ohio. In Canada, service will be offered in Quebec and Ontario. Two-day transit times are planned for 95% of locations served.
The move is the latest expansion for Dicom, which ranks No. 92 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers. Among its recent acquisitions was Eastern Connection, a U.S. regional parcel carrier whose network is providing the foundation for the new offering, with sort centers at 45 terminals and linehaul by 900 drivers.
“The new service will create efficiencies and value for cross-border shippers in need of fast and reliable ground parcel transportation,” said Ken Nadler, Dicom chief commercial officer.
Other Canadian services will continue through service partners, the Dicom statement said.
