C.H. Robinson’s Income Rises 6%

C.H. Robinson Worldwide Inc.

C.H. Robinson Worldwide Inc. said net income in the second quarter increased 6% to $118.6 million, or 80 cents per share, from $112 million, or 70 cents per share.

The company’s report, including a 6.5% rise in revenue to $3.5 billion, noted that North American truckload volumes increased about 3%.

Truckload costs in North America increased about 9%, and the Eden Prairie, Minnesota-based company said the average truckload rate per mile charged to customers increased nearly 10% in the second quarter.

Transportation revenue rose 12.2% to $484 million. Less-than-truckload revenue rose 11% on an 8% increase in shipments.

In other smaller businesses, revenue improved in the intermodal, ocean, air, customs and logistics units. Sourcing for produce shipments declined 10% on the impact of the West Coast drought.
