DTNA Breaks Ground on New Portland Headquarters

Daimler Trucks North America

Daimler Trucks North America said it has broken ground at the site of its new headquarters building in Portland, Oregon.

“With our roots firmly planted in Portland over 70 years ago, Daimler Trucks North America is proud to lay the foundation for continued prosperity with a headquarters campus designed for the company’s long-term business success and a world-class workplace for employees,” DTNA President Martin Daum said.

A ground-breaking event July 18 included Governor John Kitzhaber, Portland Mayor Charlie Hales and DTNA employees.

“Daimler Trucks North America will remain an important part of Oregon’s economy by investing in our region and producing family-wage jobs,” said Kitzhaber.

DTNA’s headquarters project required a $150 million investment and is expected to be completed in early 2016.

The company said the building will bring together employees currently in offices separated by the Willamette River. It will also accommodate about 400 new positions.

The company makes Freightliner and Western Star trucks, as well as Detroit-branded components.
