Arkansas Sets $800,000 for Two CNG Stations

The Arkansas Energy Office said it will provide $800,000 in rebates to two compressed natural gas station operators.

The energy office, a division of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission, gave the rebate to Kum & Go for a station in Springdale and to Love’s Travel Stop for a station in West Memphis. Both public stations are expected to be open by late 2014.

“These rebates provide one more way we can make the use of alternative fuels an option for Arkansans,” Grant Tennille, executive director of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission, said in a statement.

“I encourage Arkansas’s businesses and citizens to learn more about the benefits of buying or converting to a CNG vehicle,” Tennille said.

The station operators will be awarded the funds through the Gaseous Fuels Rebate Program.
