December Trailer Orders Slip 4.5%

Daniel Acker/Bloomberg News

U.S. trailer manufacturers received 29,164 new orders in December, down 4.5% from the same month a year earlier but up 13.6% from November’s total, ACT Research Co. reported.

The industry ordered 231,728 trailers in 2013, a 1.8% decline from 2012’s total of 235,998, ACT said Jan. 23.

Trailer orders had increased on a year-over-year basis for four straight months before declining in December.

Even so, December’s total was stronger than any other month in 2013.
