DAT Reports September Dip in Load-Board Activity

Load-board freight activity fell 5.3% in September compared with August but was 22% higher than the prior year, according to DAT, a load board owned by TransCore.

Load availability fell 1.6% for dry vans and 4.6% for flatbeds, but it increased 1.1% for refrigerated trailer services compared with August, according to the Oct. 11 report from DAT. Volume in the third quarter of 2013 was 13% higher than the same quarter in 2012, it reported.

The September volume was the highest for that month since DAT began keeping records in 2012, the load board reported.
