Teamster package workers at UPS Inc. have approved five of seven supplemental agreements as the process of contract ratification proceeds at the carrier.
Union members began voting last month on the seven supplemental agreements that were renegotiated after an initial rejection. UPS Teamsters earlier this year ratified a master six-year contract, but the overall agreement can’t take effect until all of the 17 rejected side agreements are approved.
The union posted the results on its website Oct 10.
“We continue to make progress and will continue to work with the Teamsters to finalize the remaining contracts,” UPS spokesman, Andy McGowan told Transport Topics.
The largest agreement, covering the Central Region, was approved with about 55% of the more than 22,000 voters voting in favor. Also approved were the Philadelphia, Michigan, Local 804 and Local 243 supplementals. The Ohio and Local 623 supplementals were rejected.
