Surface trade among the United States, Canada and Mexico rose 6.2% last year compared with 2011, the Department of Transportation said Thursday.
Trade among the North American Free Trade Agreement partners increased to $960 billion, DOT’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics said.
U.S.-Canada trade increased 3.6% year-over-year to $556.2 billion, while U.S.-Mexico trade rose 10% to $403.9 billion.
Truck imports to the United States from the two countries increased 6.1% year-over-year to $321.3 billion, and exports rose 6.4% to $343.4 billion.
Rail imports rose 9.7% to $106 billion, while exports gained 11.5% to $60 billion. Pipeline imports dropped 4.3% to $67 billion, while exports fell 2.2% to $9.5 billion.
