The real value of highway construction increased in January due to warmer weather, according to American Road & Transportation Builders Association.
Highway construction increased 4.3% in January from a year prior, according to ARTBA’s analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data.
“With warmer than average temperatures across the country, many contractors were able to get more work done on transportation projects, providing a market boost early this year,” Dr. Alison Premo Black, chief economist, ARTBA, said in a statement.
The association said it defines the real value of highway construction as the actual work done on transportation construction projects and is an indicator of real-time market activity.
