UPS Adds 100 Electric Delivery Trucks to California Fleet

UPS Inc.

UPS Inc. said it has put 100 new all-electric delivery trucks in service in California.

The electric trucks will reduce the consumption of fuel by 126,000 gallons, UPS said. They have an operating range of 75 miles and will deliver packages in Sacramento, San Bernardino, Ceres, Fresno and Bakersfield.

The trucks were funded in part the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and were manufactured in Stockton, Calif., by Electric Vehicles International.

“We currently operate more than 2,500 alternative fuel vehicles worldwide with a variety of hybrid, electric and natural gas technologies, making UPS the leader in logistics sustainability,” said UPS president of U.S. operations, Myron Gray.

UPS is ranked No. 1 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
