Old Dominion Freight Line said Thursday its fourth-quarter income dipped but its revenue improved.

Net income fell to $39.5 million, or 46 cents per share, from $39.9 million, or 46 cents, a year ago.

Revenue rose 8.7% to $527.3 million, the less-than-truckload carrier said.

Full-year net income rose to $169.5 million, or $1.97 per share, from $139.5 million, or $1.63. Sales rose 12.1% to $2.1 billion.

Total tons rose 5.9% for the quarter, which had one more day than last year’s comparable period, CEO David Congdon said in a statement.

Old Dominion Freight Line is ranked No. 14 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
