Questar Fueling announced it has agreed to build a compressed natural gas fueling facility in Houston for use by Swift Transportation and Central Freight Lines.
Questar Fueling, a business unit of natural gas company Questar Corp., Salt Lake City, said it will own and operate the facility, which will serve up to 200 CNG-powered trucks operated by the two carriers.
The majority of the trucks will use a private “time-fill” facility in which the trucks fill overnight, while the remainder will use a five-lane, high-speed fueling facility that will also be open to the public, Questar said.
“Our vendors expect us to consistently find ways to improve our transportation efficiencies,” said Jerry Moyes, Swift’s chairman, founder and CEO. “CNG helps us meet that objective, and our partnership with Questar Fueling will help facilitate our transition to CNG.”
Ron Jibson, president, CEO and chairman of Questar Corp., described Swift Transportation and Central Freight Lines as “industry leaders in the adoption of CNG as a transportation fuel for the heavy-duty market.”
