LaHood (L) with FMCSA Administrator Anne Ferro and ATA President Bill Graves — TT File PhotoTransportation Secretary Ray LaHood is not among the group of Cabinet officials the White House said would remain on the job in President Obama’s second term, The Hill newspaper reported.
A DOT spokesman reached Thursday declined to comment on the report.
LaHood said in October 2011 that he would step down after Obama’s first term, and said at that time that he would seek opportunities in the private sector.
Late last year, LaHood said he would make a decision on whether to stay on as Transportation Secretary after talking to President Obama in the new year.
LaHood, who represented the Peoria, Ill., area as a Republican congressman for 14 years, was appointed to head DOT in 2009.
