U.S., Chinese Clean Truck Tech Manufacturers Meet with Government Officials

Clean truck technology company representatives from the U.S. and China met for the first time last week with agencies from both governments, said event sponsor Calstart.

Calstart, an organization that promotes clean transportation, sponsored the Beijing summit, which included attendees from Navistar International Corp., Eaton Corp. and BAE Systems.

“Our objective is to bring top industry and government leaders together in a small, focused summit around trucks and buses, which has not received enough attention,” said John Boesel, Calstart’s president.

“We are raising the profile of U.S. companies and their capabilities and introducing them directly to leading Chinese truck and bus companies looking for new technology,” he said in a statement.

The summit also included government representatives from the U.S. Department of Commerce, Department of State, Environmental Protection Agency as well as China’s Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Environmental Protection, and Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, according to CALSTART.

An award from the Commerce Department’s Market Development Cooperator Program partially supports the U.S.-China Clean Truck and Bus Forum work, targeting business plans aimed at increasing exports and U.S. competitiveness in certain industries and to boost U.S. exports, Calstart said.
