DOT Releases $12 Million to N.J., Conn., for Storm-Damaged Roads

The U.S. Department of Transportation released $10 million in emergency funds to New Jersey and $2 million to Connecticut to repair roads damaged by Hurricane Sandy.

The funds are in addition to $17 million DOT released earlier to three states — $10 million to New York, $4 million to North Carolina and $3 million to Rhode Island.

“We need to do all we can to help communities get their transportation systems up and running and we are doing that,” Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said.

“These emergency relief funds represent only the start of our commitment to the region’s recovery,” he said in a statement.
