CSX Reports Higher 2Q Income

CSX Corp.’s second-quarter earnings rose as growth in container-car shipments eased the effects of sliding coal volumes, Bloomberg reported.

The Eastern freight railroad earned $512 million, or 49 cents per share, up from $506 million, or 46 cents, a year earlier.

Revenue was flat at just ove $3 billion, CSX said late Tuesday. Intermodal cargo volume rose 8% to 629,000 units.
