John Sommers II for TT STATESBORO, Ga. — Great Dane Trailers officially opened a new plant here this week to produce refrigerated trailers, the ninth production facility for the company.
The 450,000-square-foot facility opened Tuesday currently employs about 150 workers, who are producing a single trailer a day as the company is perfecting its manufacturing processes.
Great Dane officials said the plant would be producing six trailers a day by July, and a second shift will be added in August. Eventually, each shift will produce about 10 trailers a day, when the plant reaches its 5,000-trailer-a-year capacity.
Bill Crown, the company’s president, said the plant underscored Great Dane’s faith in manufacturing in the United States.
