Auto Sales Decline for November

Analysts Expect 2008 Drop in Sales

U.S. automobile sales fell or were flat in November and an ongoing economic slump will continue to hurt U.S. auto sales in 2008, the Associated Press reported Tuesday.

Analysts for Fitch Ratings said they expect U.S. light vehicle sales to fall about 3% next year to 15.6 million units, which would be the lowest total in 10 years.

Automakers reported a combined 2% drop in November domestic sales on Monday, with auto sales up 6%, but sales of trucks and sport utility vehicles fell 7%, AP reported, citing Autodata Corp.

General Motors Corp. said its November sales fell 11%, while Chrysler reported a 2% drop. Ford Motor Co. and Toyota Motor Corp. both reported flat sales for the month.
