merican Trucking Associations said its Intermodal Motor Carriers Conference has reached consensus with other groups on intermodal equipment standards, known as roadability.

The group, along with the Ocean Carrier Equipment Management Association and the Association of American Railroads, reached an agreement on federal legislation that would establish federal requirements governing maintenance, repair, inspection and shared responsibility of intermodal equipment, ATA said.

The legislation would provide a clear direction and framework for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration during ensuing agency equipment safety review and promulgation process, ATA said in a statement.
