ATA Names Officers For 2003

img src="/sites/default/files/images/articles/printeditiontag_new.gif" width=120 align=right>ORLANDO, Fla. — American Trucking Associations' Board of Directors endorsed a slate of officers for 2003.

ATA leaders attending the annual Management Conference & Exhibition held here Oct. 27-30 elected Vernon E. Garner, chief executive officer and chairman of the board of Garner Transportation Group in Findlay, Ohio, as their 2003 chairman.

Garner replaced outgoing Chairman David G. McCorkle, chairman of McCorkle Truck Line in Oklahoma City.



Fred C. Burns Jr., president of Burns Motor Freight in Marlinton, W.Va., was elected first vice chairman.

Steven Williams, chairman and CEO of Maverick Transportation in Little Rock, Ark., and Michael S. Starnes, president of M.S. Carriers in Memphis, Tenn., remained as vice chairmen.

ATA members approved Donald J. Schneider, chairman of Schneider National in Green Bay, Wis., as a new vice chairman.

Gerald L. Detter, president and CEO of Con-Way Transportation Services in Ann Arbor, Mich., remained treasurer.

William D. Zollars, chairman and CEO of Yellow Corp. in Overland Park, Kan., retained his post as secretary.
