federal appeals court heard oral arguments Wednesday on a motion by CSX Transportation seeking to overturn a District of Columbia law restricting rail hazardous materials shipments in the capital.

he three-judge panel heard arguments from attorneys representing CSX, federal government agencies supporting the railroad, the District and the Sierra Club, which is supporting the city in the case.

The court did not say when it would rule in the case.



Last week the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit temporarily halted implementation of the city’s law, set to take effect last Wednesday, which would have restricted rail hazmat shipments near the U.S. Capitol building.
