Air Cargo Shipments Rebound in August

omestic air cargo shipments rebounded from a 5% drop in July to climb 0.6% in August in year-over-year comparisons, the Air Transport Association reported Thursday.

Air cargo shipments always have a trucking component, since air carriers use trucks for local and regional ground transportation.

International air cargo shipments for August rose 2.6% from the previous August, compared with a 1.5% rise in July.



Overall air cargo shipments gained 1.6% year-over-year, compared with a 1.7% decline the previous month, the trade group said in its monthly report.

July domestic revenue ton-miles rose to 1 million from 962,434 in July. A revenue ton-mile is the revenue generated by carrying one ton of freight one mile.
